A Time Machine Called Life Powered by Routine

Currently I feel like I'm in a state of constant travel. Not physical travel as such but a general feeling of travelling through time some what quicker than most people. I feel like that time machine called life is not so much passing me by as moving me forward at a faster than normal pace.

Which would be fine if I could say my life was so much bigger on the inside, like the Doctor's Tardis, but it's not, it's actually smaller and filled with a lot of mundane crap that needs to be done. It's something called a 'routine'. Mine involves dish washing, exercising, walking our two dogs, and doing work for clients. Things that need to be done but I'd quite happily rather be doing something else.

Your routine is what propels you forward through time. The more you have in your routine the faster you travel through time. Paradoxically if parts of your routine are really mundane or just downright boring they can feel like time is dragging but it's just an illusion. You'll still wonder where all your time went at the end of the week.

The problem with a routine is, if you get too much packed into it, it becomes very hard to find time for those things that can make your life bigger, more interesting and just generally more fulfilling. That's where I find myself now. I keep trying to plan to do other things but by the time I get through my routine there's usually no time left.

I suspect my feeling of travelling quicker through life is not dis-similar to anyone who has, what people some time refer to as, a 'real' job - as if what I do for a living isn't real simply because I work from home and have to manage my own routine - but that's another bitch session.

Anyone with a job knows that it's not so easy to find time to do those extra things after work and on the weekends that you want to do but are not generally part of your routine. Often it's because you just want that time to wind down and relax because the job part of your routine wears you out.

If your job is just a job then it can really feel like your life is being propelled forward through time by your routine. Before you know it, you're not as young as you used to be and you are wondering if you couldn't have spent that time doing something more worthwhile.

I really don't mind the speed at which I appear to be travelling forward through time but I do have that sense that I should really be doing something more worthwhile with my time. Something that is more meaningful to me and feels a lot less like a routine.

Time to pull this Time Machine over to the side and give my routine an overhaul I think.

I'm Confused About Why People Prefer to Say Discombobulated?

D iscombobulated. Is a word that I think someone rediscovered about three or four years ago (maybe more because the pandemic years have thrown out my sense of time) and now I hear it a lot. It's not a new word by any means, but when I started hearing multiple celebrities using it in everyday sentences, I actively had to look up what it meant. He was discombobulated by too many choices. He was confused by too many choices. My confusion is the length of the word. It's unnecessarily long with too many syllables. There are many other words that mean confused, and therefore also mean discombobulated. Most of them are shorter and easier to say. So why not just say 'confused'? Movie Review: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) No Spoilers

T his is another film that I would have liked to have seen in a theatre but, for whatever reason, didn't get to. Having now seen Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) almost a year later I'm glad I didn't. Which is not to say it's bad. Like its predecessor Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), which I enjoyed in a cinema immensely, this film would definitely benefit from being on a big screen for the spectacle and epic visuals of it all. Boom Crash Opera Born Classic But Not Again

Boom Crash Opera are an Australian Band that reached the peak of their popularity in the mid to late nineteen eighties. They are a band that I knew about at that time but was never really excited by until they released their ill fated double album Born and Born Again in 1995 (Album cover pictured). At the time of its release I was very much into emerging Australian musical acts and was also looking out for new sounds that were different and had kind of a futuristic/electronic sound. Artists that I was buying at the time included; Swoop , Nine Inch Nails and Pop Will Eat Its Self . As well as a really interesting release by David Bowie, the concept album, Outside . Born was a fairly radical departure for Boom Crash Opera (BCO). The Princess' Butterflies - Using an AI Image to Video Generator to Animate Art That Started as a 23 Year Old Rough Pen Sketch

B ack in October of 2023 I used Prome AI's Sketch Rendering feature to color a 23 year old rough pen sketch I did of a princess watching butterflies, sitting next to a waterfall in the forest. You can read more about that in my previous article, The Princess' Butterflies - Using an AI Art Generator to Color and Enhance a 23 Year Old Rough Pen Sketch The three images I used to create my final image (bottom right). Notice how closely the AI has followed my line art sketch (top left) but in the first image (top right) has misinterpreted the waterfall as some kind of large tree stump. Prome's render of the artwork was pretty good but I did end up creating a composite image myself from two of the best renders, to get my final image.
