As an online business owner Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is something you know you should learn but just wish you could learn like Neo learns Kung Fu in The Matrix. The knowledge is downloaded into his brain almost instantaneously, and then he just knows it.

Recently I wanted to know why a page I thought I'd optimised well, and was getting number one placement on Google for the search terms I focussed on, wasn't performing well at all.

Udemy is my go to site for online learning (I am an affiliate). I searched their course catalogue for something that would run me through the basics of SEO quickly - as close to Neo learning Kung Fu as possible.

I came across The SEO Bootcamp For Beginners 2019 by GlitchyBot, a one hour course that runs you through the basics of SEO, no side tracking, no exercises to complete, just a headlong rush through mostly short videos, giving you all the information you need. I pretty much completed the course through a slightly extended, hour long, breakfast.

SEO is actually an entire science with many professional services dedicated to helping clients improve their search engine rankings but, if you're not ready to pay someone to do this for you, The SEO Bootcamp For Beginners 2019 is definitely an easy way into learning real knowledge you can use right away.

I thought I knew quite a bit but it turns out there was definitely some gaps in my knowledge. For example, you may know that SEO involves making sure your content contains relevant keywords but did you know that focussing on keyword phrases is a better strategy? Keyword phrases, not just individual words, that people are likely to enter into a search engine.

The course will tell you how and where keyword phrases should be placed into your content and will also help you understand how to do some fairly simple keyword research using both free and paid SEO tools.

Keyword research is invaluable as it turns out. It can help you narrow down exactly what words and phrases are actually being used in search engines that relate to your content. The page I set up, that was getting number one placings for my search terms, wasn't doing well because exactly no one was putting those search terms into a search engine.

Had I done the research I would've chosen some terms people were actually using that directly related to my content.

The SEO Bootcamp For Beginners shows how you can do your keyword research quickly, finding more effective keyword phrases without too much effort at all. In fact I found better terms for my page while I was doing that unit in the course.

If you're like me and find the prospect of learning SEO as exciting as watching paint dry this is the course for you. I'd recommend taking the course during an hour long lunch break or doing something else equally enjoyable to take the edge of the fact you're doing a course on SEO.

Despite that you will probably find yourself taking notes and trying some of the methods as you learn, because it's easy to relate the information back to your own content.

I'm Confused About Why People Prefer to Say Discombobulated?

D iscombobulated. Is a word that I think someone rediscovered about three or four years ago (maybe more because the pandemic years have thrown out my sense of time) and now I hear it a lot. I decided not see Captain America: Brave New World in a cinema because everything I heard about the film pointed to a disjointed mess, from testing poorly, to whole characters being added in during reshoots.
