Meanwhile, In Australia... The World's Most Boring Government Is Fine... We're All Fine.

To be honest, I stopped following politics in Australia years ago. The only time I check in is usually around election time just to see which set of woke lefty independents, I'm going to vote for, ahead of my fallbacks of the Greens, and then Labor.

Despite my sister trying to categorise me as more of a 'left brained' person I definitely lean 'right brained' more at home with my cry baby, woke, alphabet, lefty people. (For the record, if this is the first musing of mine you've ever read, I'm a straight white male who identifies as an artist... Male artist - just in case you were thinking artist is some new kind of gender you hadn't heard of).

This year is an election year for our Federal Government, potentially the world's most boring government, for no other reason than during its entire term, if you asked me who was our Prime Minister I'd actually have to stop and think for a moment. Maybe our 31st PM should've learned to play the banjo, it worked for his predecessor.

According to early polling they're coasting towards a relatively decisive loss to the Liberal/National Coalition as this country, likely buoyed by right wing voters in the recent USA election, that, let's face it, we hear more about, than anything our own politicians are doing.

Not that our right wing voters are at all happy with yet another Liberal/National coalition government but it's the best they can hope for, after all their preferences for minor right wing parties and independents trickle down to their main option.

However, just like me, it's worth spreading your vote away from the major parties, because minor parties and independents can, sometimes, hold the balance of power in parliament. Which is when our politics actually become interesting again.

It means the government of the day has to work just that little bit harder to dot all the 'Is' and cross all the 'Ts' on almost everything to get it passed by those in the balance.

Naturally I would prefer my woke, lefty politicians to hold the balance of power so that all policy and legislation can be identified with its proper pronouns, and can wear a dress if it wants to.

But, you know, there's something to be said for having a bunch of right wing independents and minor parties in the hot seat with their tin foil hats, making sure there's no hidden agendas that prove their theories that big government is corrupt (I'm kind of glad I haven't actually heard a right wing independent use the term 'big government' in quite a while... There's no such thing as big government, there's just the government).

Fortunately, in Australia, voting is compulsory, so there's no need to tell people to go vote.

Though, based on the last election someone really needs to make sure a few of those right wing voters know exactly why preferential voting is more likely going to see their candidate win than just using the popular vote. For the right candidate preferential voting will get them over the line from indirect votes on top of their primary votes.

Just tell your candidate to leave all their big pharma, big tech, big Mac theories on the downlow during the election... And leave the tin foil hat at home. You can wear it after you win the vote!

In the meantime, I'm sure we'll be seeing the black and gold, doom and gloom, the right is out of touch campaign posters from the left real soon.

But right now the government is fine... We're all fine as President Trump is a nice distraction that shows us all what running a country like a corporation actually looks like.

I still hope everyone who voted for him gets the full Trump, cutting government spending, you're fired, you're fired, you're fired, and especially you ya DEI hire.
