Second Sunday Skateboard Session Ep 2 - Some Improvements

As of writing this I've stuck to my plan of filming myself skate every second Sunday. By the time this post goes up I will have three episodes done. As part of that goal I am also skating more between episodes, about every second to third day for an hour, practicing Braille's Skateboarding Made Simple, Volume 1.

That said, I'm not posting these videos here immediately after they're posted to my @TETLife YouTube Channel because I only post an article once a week, and that would make every second article a Sunday Session post.

These posts are really so I can add some additional thoughts after the fact, and, of course, because this blog is about all things that interest me, of which skateboarding is one of them.

In episode two I had intended to speak to camera more than I do but my driveway is right next door to my neighbor's shed/workshop, and I get a little self-conscious if I'm not too sure whether he's there or not.

I also feel the commentary is going to get a little boring so I may start thinking about perhaps telling a story or something as I skate. Maybe something from my time as a skater in the 1990s. We'll see.

One thing I had hoped to film was me landing a moving pop shuv-it. during the week prior to the episode I actually landing two or three moving, one almost perfectly. I wasn't going very fast but given I landed with my feet apart, and mostly in the right spot, I was happy with it. Unfortunately it wasn't happening with the camera on.

As mentioned in the video I did have a revelation on my heelflips and kickflips through the week that was a real step forward for me that I haven't had in years. Listening for the pop before starting my flick on both is helping to keep the board more underneath me.

Since this episode I have come close to even landing a heelflip - the harder of the two tricks for me. Not intentionally, just that random one, when you get close by accident. It's a good sign.

Overall, I'm still feeling good about this series, and my minimal filming and editing set up is making it less of a chore. Though I still have to be careful not to turn any one of the tricks I'm trying into a persistence. The idea is to not make the filming and editing part such a chore that I can't get it done same day.

Anyway, episode two is below. I will keep working to try and make the content a little more interesting beyond tracking my improvements on the same seven tricks over ten episodes. However I totally understand if you drop off and maybe just turn up to see where I'm at by episode ten.

TV Series Review: Humans (2015-2018, 3 Seasons) No Spoilers

I'm Confused About Why People Prefer to Say Discombobulated?

D iscombobulated. Is a word that I think someone rediscovered about three or four years ago (maybe more because the pandemic years have thrown out my sense of time) and now I hear it a lot. It's not a new word by any means, but when I started hearing multiple celebrities using it in everyday sentences, I actively had to look up what it meant. He was discombobulated by too many choices. He was confused by too many choices. My confusion is the length of the word. It's unnecessarily long with too many syllables. Anthony Albanese Victory by ChatGPT and TET. W hen I started writing about the 2025 Federal election the polls were suggesting the world's most boring government was crusing to a defeat . Movie Review: Captain America: Brave New World (2025) No Spoilers

I decided not see Captain America: Brave New World in a cinema because everything I heard about the film pointed to a disjointed mess, from testing poorly, to whole characters being added in during reshoots. The trailers looked okay but, since they featured Red Hulk, quite a bit, it felt like there wasn't much left as a drawcard for seeing the film in a cinema.
