Morning People.

In this world there are generally two types of people, 'morning' or 'night' people. I fall into the former because I've learned that in order to be productive an early start is essential. Which is not to suggest that I get up at the crack of sunrise and get straight into my day.

In fact I get up at the slightly more respectable time of 8:30am because then I avoid my partner and the kids getting ready for work and school. I like to relax into my day with an unhurried breakfast followed by an equally unhurried shower. My actual productive day starts around 10am.

Night people bemoan the very idea of getting up at 8:30am even though this would be considered sleeping in by die hard morning people who wake up with the sun. Night people generally start to stir at around 10:00am - at least the 'early risers' of night people do.

I've noticed that night people are some what less productive than morning people in how they organise their day. Generally they seem to be always a little behind in what they wanted to achieve before the end of their day. Not that I'm trying to imply morning people always keep their schedules either but I think morning people generally try to cram more tasks into their day.

Night people think they can't be morning people because they feel like crap when they have gotten out of bed early. However the reason they feel this way is because they probably went to bed in the wee small hours of the morning. They're night people after all.

To become a morning person you have to think like a morning person and train yourself to go to bed at a suitable time. Most people need about 8 hours sleep so going to bed at around 11pm should give you a good start at 8am (yes I know that's nine hours but getting up at 7am is really not necessary unless you are employed by someone who expects you to be at work at 9am).

It takes a bit of practice to become a morning person. On the other hand to become a night person is some what easier. Morning people can always find something more to do in a day. A bit of a caffine fix will keep a morning person going. Before you know it you can easily be going to bed in the early hours of the following day.

  1. I just found this entry really odd!! You're a morning person?? By 7.30 am I've ran for 45 minutes on the tready, had a shower and washed and blowdried my hair, applied makeup, packed 2 school lunches, fed the dogs and cat and am waking the kids...Describe your normal sunrise and then and only then I let you into the very secretive club of 'Morning people'.

  2. POSTSCRIPT: I crash and burn at around 3 pm though - sigh - Oh to be a night person...

  3. I never said I was a 'Super early morning' person, though I used to be. I used to get up at 6am and walk for an hour straight then do another hour of weights. Then I'd have a shower and be sitting down to breakfast at 8:30am.

Would you still get up that early if you didn't have other people/pets to organise?

Regardless my comparison is based on 'Night People' who tend to sleep in until noon. That still makes me a morning person in my book.

  4. I am a 'Night Person' but I don't sleep in 'til noon, so maybe this doesn't make me a true 'night person' either! I just thought I was, because I don't generally put my light out until around 3am, as I don't move off to bed until most times after 1am or later. If my light is out by midnight or 1am, that is an 'early night' for me!

I sit up in bed doing a crossword from my crossword book or the newspaper, and listen to the late-night talkback radio, which is like being part of a family, as you get to know the people's voices who ring most nights, and it's the next best thing to having 'company'.

However, I set my radio clock for 9am if I don't have to be up to go anywhere, as I don't want to sleep in 'til noon, even though I feel like I could! I set the clock to keep me motivated, as with living on my own, I am at home for quite a few days sometimes, so don't want to get too slack!

It does mean however, that I have very late breakfasts (almost lunch time)and late lunches around 2-3pm, and late tea or dinner, if you prefer at anytime from 7pm onwards most times - especially if I am on the computer!

I don't have to get up for work, but I can get up when I have to, but some elderly people go to bed at 9-30pm and get up at around 5 or 5-30am even in winter when it is dark in the bedroom - like getting up in the middle of the night to me!

Real morning people are a pain, if they don't really have to get up - but I would love to be one - well from about 7-8am anyway! I'm working on getting up at 8-830am, but must re-organise my night and daytimes first, or it doesn't work! Sorry for length, but it takes some going into - been going to answer this for awhile, and was prompted by the last person's comment!

  5. POSTSCRIPT....Yes, after all that, I have a postscript too! Morning people (the real early risers with nowhere to go and nothing to do!) bug me when they say, " Oh, I can't stay in bed once I'm awake, I have to get up!" Bulldust!

I often wake up at 5am or am still awake at 4 or 5am if I can't sleep, but I like to 'doze'. I never feel wide awake when I get up, I always feel I could stay in bed, probably with the hours I keep. (I've been a night person from a child, even when the family was small, I still didn't go to bed early, but should have done!)

People that 'can't stay in bed' shouldn't go to bed so bloomin' early, then they might be able to, and most wouldn't complain about it being a 'long day' or being bored, but most of the elderly I know have full diaries, except the ones who can't get out because of being lame etc.

I don't usually get much more than 6hrs sleep, sometimes 5hrs, but still get up if I have to or 10am at the latest, if I have to have a bit of a 'lie in' from still being awake. (it's after midnight now when I'm on this comp, and I'm going out to lunch tomorrow up in Perth. Don't have to be at train station 'til 11-30am)...Long postscipt...I know!

  6. I guess there are exceptions to every theory but I reckon you're still bordering on being a night person. Getting up at 9am is kind of late for a morning person (even my 8:30ish is late for a morning person but I don't stay up late enough to be a night person). I'd be positively struggling to keep my eyes open long before 3am.

Australian Federal Election 2025 - World's Most Boring Government Re-elected by Landside - We're Even More Fine!

Anthony Albanese Victory by ChatGPT and TET. W hen I started writing about the 2025 Federal election the polls were suggesting the world's most boring government was crusing to a defeat . As it turns out, boring is good, and Australia wants more of it, handing the current government a landslide win with a majority vote. Anthony Albanese became the first PM since John Howard to win a consecutive term, and the first Labor PM since Bob Hawke to do so. Some of that comes down to the leadership revolving door both major parties had through the mid 2000s. Although Anthony is my preferred PM over Dutton the irony is Dutton sounds more like a leader with a fairly commanding voice and an ability to speak well, without sounding like he's waffling and dodging questions, even if he is. Anthony, on the other hand, does have the ability (and speech writer) to say a lot of inspiring things but it gets lost in the delivery. He doesn't seem to know when to emphasise a point for effect. Review: ArtHelper - The All-In-One AI Writing + Marketing Assistant for Artists - 'ChatGPT for Artists'

ArtHelper prides itself on being all 'human-made' art. T he idea of an AI, trained specifically on art business marketing, that can not only offer advice on marketing your work, but also assist with creating all the content too, is certainly appealing. Especially to those of us who would rather spend more time creating our art than trying to sell it. ArtHelper does just that whilst attempting to be your 'home' on the internet. A destination for your profile and portfolio, a marketplace for your art, and a directory of artists as well, with one distinction - all the art must be human made. Which, for you AI artists, doesn't count the prompt for AI generated art - because the idea, according to ArtHelper's creators, isn't the art. Which is a fair point, in terms of promoting art 'made by a human', but can get kind of murky when you understand that not all AI art is generated from a single prompt... and 'found object art' isn't actually ...

TV Series Review: 12 Monkeys (2015 - Season 1 ) *Spoiler Free*

Being a fan of the 1995, Terry Gilliam movie, Twelve Monkeys , when I discovered SyFy channel had adapted it into a TV series, 12 Monkeys , I was interested to see how that would pan out. Although the show has been aired in Australia on free to air TV (I'm pretty sure I've seen it listed there at ridiculous hours on occasion), it's only recently that the first two seasons were added to Australian Netflix. So I added it to my list of shows to watch. This article is not so much a review of the show, rather it's my thoughts on adapting to the TV version after being a big fan of the film. At this point, I've only seen all of season one and the first episode of season two. Going into the TV series I literally went in cold, not knowing anything about the approach to this adaptation from pre-publicity or trailers beforehand. I didn't really have any expectations other than wondering if the show would stick to the movie plot lines closely and, if they did, how w...

Movie Review: Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham (2023) *Spoilers*

I don't know why I go into every WB Animation/DC Comics animated movie hopeful that it's going to be good. It almost never is.  You'd think my expectations would be so low by this point that it wouldn't take much to be pleasantly surprised but apparently not.  I can only guess that WB Animation's latest DC offering, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham is intended to be some kind of special release for Halloween with the amount of monsters and supernatural elements that lie within.  The trouble is, I don't know who this is for? Given the body count, it's not for kids and, with all the magic and supernatural elements front and center it's not really a detective story? Set in 1920's Gotham, an ancient evil is awakened, and only Batman can save the city (I guess? I mean a good proportion of the city gets burned to the ground so... did he save it?). Given the time period I was hopeful this could be something of an interesting take on Batman along the li...

Is AI Art 'Art'? The Say NO to AI Art Movement, and Why Human Artists Will Adapt

AI Art No T-Shirt by TET Also available on other items . Right now there is a big debate over not just whether AI art is 'art' but whether AI's are actually ripping off the work of actual human artists, without their consent, to create their images - particularly images 'in the style of' specific artists. From my own observations this debate started to get more traction when artist's signatures began appearing in the output of AI Art  image generators. Is It Art? Cool Froyd the Cat Sketch by TET. My style is very much influenced by classic Disney and WB character styles. To get some clarity on how real human artists work (of which I am one)... we, that is all of us... take influences from the art that has come before. i.e. whatever artists we like, have studied, seen etc. we are influenced by. It shows up in our work, intentionally or not. If you really study my own cartoony art style you'll see I'm heavily influenced by early Disney and Warner Bros cart...

West Beach Skatepark, Adelaide, South Australia

Main Vert Ramp, West Beach. West Beach Skatepark , Adelaide, South Australia, is one of my favorite skateparks, even though I can barely skate anything in it well. Most of the park is way above my ability. Located not far from the end of the runway at Adelaide Airport it can be a bit disconcerting seeing how low the planes get as they come in to land. From certain vantage points you'd swear they're about to crash into the park instead of fly over to the runway. The park is nearly an hour's drive from my house in Gawler so the only time I get to visit is if I'm dropping my partner off at the airport (which is a rare occurrence). This particular day was a hot 41 degrees celsius. I didn't think I'd skate but the heat guaranteed the park to be virtually empty (except for one other skater who lasted about as long as I did before giving it away). Below is a video with some highlights from my, about an hour long, session. As you can see, my ability is l...

The Liberal Party Attempt to Win Back One Nation Supporters By Stepping More to the Right

Federal Liberal Party Leader, Angus Taylor, and Deputy Leader, Jane Hume. Image: Gemini and TET. G enerally I try to keep one eye on Australian politics, mainly at the Federal level because that affects the whole country. State based politics really only become interesting at state election time, as they're something of an indicator of how the various parties might fare in a Federal election. As indicated by the gains One Nation has been making at state level, with a recent Australian Financial Review/Redbridge Group/Accent Research poll suggesting the party is now the most popular party on primary support . Much of this surge has been at the expense of the Liberal Party of Australia with former supporters seemingly agreeing that you may as well be voting for Labor since the parties are so similar (they aren't but they're both close enough to the political 'middle' it can certainly seem that way). It seems the all new Liberal Leadership of Angus Taylor, and Deput...
