Maggie Beer's Farm Shop Entrance.

You may know South Australian icon Maggie Beer from her TV cooking show, The Cook and the Chef, or from her guest appearances on Australian Master Chef. Or perhaps you're a long time customer of her various products and produce. If you're in the Barossa Valley region then a trip to her farm/shop/eatery is a nice way to spend a morning or afternoon. There is a farm walk trail, that my partner, Enigma, and I, found a little hard to know for sure if we were going the right way, but we seemed to find the various informative plaques detailing the site's history. In any case we also had a nice walk around the main lake that the shop sits alongside where you can spot many turtles and other water going wildlife.

The shop itself isn't particularly large but it does have the full range of Maggie's products. Which I guess would keep you busy browsing if cooking is your thing (it's not really mine). A better experience is to stay for a snack, wine tasting or lunch, where you can properly sample some of the products in action.

Enigma and I were there earlier in the day so we stopped in for home made ice-cream which we enjoyed sitting outside on the deck, overlooking the lake.

From there we moved on, however if you want an even more memorable experience you can actually book accommodation for a minimum of two nights at Orchard House on the property (which can house up to four people per booking).

I'd say Maggie Beer's Farm is a must for anyone familiar with Maggie and her career. I wouldn't go expecting to see Maggie in person though. I'm sure she's there from time to time but she is genuinely busy. Maybe contact the farm first to see if and when Maggie is likely to be doing a meet and greet.

James Gunn's Social Media Monkeys Joke Was a Highlight of His Superman Movie For Me

B efore James Gunn's Superman Movie was released there was a whole rumor going around that the movie would feature monkeys on computers trolling Superman's social media, sparking much outrage. #supersh*t. TV Review: X-Men '97 (2024) Disney+ Spoiler Free

A fter hearing just about everybody I know, who's into comic book TV and film, say how great the new animated Disney+ series X-Men 97 is, I decided to check it out. Most people said you didn't need to watch the actual 90's animated series that this continues from in order to enjoy it or know what was going on. More than one fan of this new series offered the hyperbole that this is one of Marvel's best, up there with the likes of Wandavision and Loki , and that it should be more popular and getting more attention than it has. Typically animated series don't usually do as well as live action shows, so it already has that hurdle - and it is a continuation of a show aimed directly at younger audiences to begin with. Being a fan of the 1995, Terry Gilliam movie, Twelve Monkeys , when I discovered SyFy channel had adapted it into a TV series, 12 Monkeys , I was interested to see how that would pan out. Review: Beware the Batman - Animated TV Series

I first wrote about the 26 part TV series, Beware the Batman in my Animation and Video blog when the initial trailer was released back in June of 2013. At the time I was underwhelmed with the shows CGI and almost immaculate Gotham City streets. For some reason the show was only ever aired at odd times on late night TV here in Australia, which seems to have been it's fate for the second half of the series in the USA too. As a result I only ever caught two or three episodes before the show disappeared. Apparently being declared a financial failure by Cartoon Network .

HRP-4C Robot, Proof of Concept

The HRP-4C Robot (pictured right - photo, Yahoo News ) that recently strutted down the catwork at a Japanese fashion show is a very exciting development in humanoid, robot technology because, as far as I'm concerned, it's 'proof of concept'. What I mean by that is it looks good enough and is functional enough as a piece of hardware to say the technology is there to build human like robots.
