Resident Dragon: Checking In with My Daily Gag Cartoon/Comic About a Fire Dragon Living in the Suburbs

At the beginning of the year I introduced you to my latest cartoon/comic series, Resident Dragon (because a dragon's got to live somewhere).

A daily - well, week-day-ly - gag cartoon about Red the Fire Dragon, living in a shared house in the suburbs, with his human friend, TET and his two pets, Grrr Dog and Cool Froyd the cat.

Back then I had about 100 cartoons sketched out, with eleven completely digitally inked and coloured.

As of writing this, I haven't yet skipped a day of my schedule, and am seven toons short of an even 200 sketched out, with 31 fully inked and coloured. Actually, it's 33 but I only publish one full colour toon each week, so I have two in the wings.

I'm not planning on doing daily toons forever. My goal is to hit 366 so I have enough to fill a daily desk calendar, should I decide to sell one.

Currently you can buy individual prints of my finished toons in my Resident Dragon Store. When I have enough finished toons I will be compiling them into books.

There will be two series, one focused on Red's work life, and one focused on Red's home life. I'm also considering a third series that has all of the cartoons in creation order. Maybe I'll call that the 'full house' edition?

The series has really branched out into a whole world with additional recurring characters, like Red's work colleagues, Snowden the Polar Bear, and my color monkeys, Reddy, Bluey, and the Great Greensbury have also moved into TET's attic.

Themes covered extend far beyond just Red's living arrangements, to his work life, career, hobbies, AI, Robots, and more. As well, I do feature the supporting cast in their own daily life and adventures. I particularly enjoyed drawing Grrr Dog's progression from a pet dog who wanted to learn to fly, to Instagram Influencer, to skateboard coach.

The Dukes of Hazard Movie - My Thoughts

The Dukes of Hazard is a movie that I wanted to see when it was released in 2005 but didn't because, well, I just didn't get around to it. Not only that but when I heard Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson were in it my expectations were immediately lowered to "it's probably not going to be what I hoped it could be." Movie Review: Tomb Raider (2018) Spoiler Free

B ack in the 1990s I was a big fan of the Tomb Raider computer games. Aside from the obvious drawcard of the games female lead, Lara Croft, it was the only game back in the day that was a true 3D, third person shooter/adventure game. I wasn't a fan of first person shooters (though I played Dark Forces a lot at the time), I've always preferred computer games where you control a character on screen. Boom Crash Opera Born Classic But Not Again

Boom Crash Opera are an Australian Band that reached the peak of their popularity in the mid to late nineteen eighties. They are a band that I knew about at that time but was never really excited by until they released their ill fated double album Born and Born Again in 1995 (Album cover pictured). At the time of its release I was very much into emerging Australian musical acts and was also looking out for new sounds that were different and had kind of a futuristic/electronic sound. Artists that I was buying at the time included; Swoop , Nine Inch Nails and Pop Will Eat Its Self . As well as a really interesting release by David Bowie, the concept album, Outside . Born was a fairly radical departure for Boom Crash Opera (BCO).
