Kevin Smith's Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016) - Movie Review *Very Minor Spoilers*

The Colleens. It may seem somewhat redundant to be talking about Tusk and Yoga Hosers four and two years after their respective release dates but there is still one more movie to come ( Moose Jaws ) in Kevin Smith's True North trilogy so you're going to want to revisit or view them for the first time at some stage before that film (if you have any interest in it of course). Both films are not highly regarded by critics and probably polarize even Kevin Smith fans since they're not exactly along the lines of Clerks but you can see some pretty broad hints of Smith's leanings toward weird comedy horror in Red State . Even Kevin uses these two films as self deprecating punching bags for his film career. It's not that he thinks they're bad films, he just recognizes the silly weirdness doesn't give them broad appeal and therefore they often get poor reviews. Full disclosure, I'm a Kevin Smith fan but, whilst I've been wanting to see both of the...

Is Daily Uploads Hurting Your Subscribers?

Image by Yanalya | Freepik One thing I think we can all agree on is the internet can be a cause of information overload. Consuming too much information might be a source of stress for anyone trying to keep up with all their interests. An obvious example is YouTube. Many content creators on that platform feel a need to engage with their audience on a daily basis in order to not to lose momentum and to keep their channels growing. But is it really necessary, and could daily uploads be hurting rather than helping their channels? I haven't studied the figures so I can only pose my question based on personal experience as a YouTube consumer. However, it's unlikely that I'm alone in how I interact with my channel subscriptions so the question becomes, are there enough people like me to suggest daily uploads could indeed be hurting your subscribers. Currently I'm subscribed to 67 YouTube channels. Which I suspect isn't that many compared to someone who doesn'...

BEILEXING Autocycle Style ABS Cartoon Building Brick - 378pcs - COLORMIX - Motorcycle kit Product Review

BEILEXING Brick Motorcycle Kit The first time I saw the Beilexing Brick Motorcycle Kit I thought it was nothing short of stunning. I'm not even a fan of motorcycles in general but the detail of this set and how much it captured the spirit of a real world motorcycle really impressed me. Then I saw the set cost considerably less than a similar sized kit from the Lego Technic range I just couldn't pass it up. When the kit arrived it did not disappoint. Made from ABS plastic the bricks are fully compatible with, and are of comparable quality to, official Lego bricks. I did notice that the tires and chain links seemed a little less sturdy than their Lego equivalents but beyond that you'd be hard pressed to say the quality of the parts wasn't almost as good. The model is 35.00 x 10.00 x 6.00 cm / 13.78 x 3.94 x 2.36 inches in size and should be no trouble for intermediate to advanced builders to construct with a clear, and easy to follow instruction manual. Revisiting West Beach Skatepark and Flying My Flitt Selfie Drone

West Beach Ramp and TET with Flitt Selfie Drone. I previously visited West Beach Skatepark in the middle of a super hot weather day so didn't stay that long or film very much. This time I got there just before sunrise at the tail end of Winter (but on the beginning of a very nice day). Flitt Selfie Drone (Affiliate Link, Click to support the site). Not only that, I also came prepared with an extra skateboard, better suited for bowl riding, and I brought my Flitt Selfie drone (Amazon affiliate link - support the site by clicking here if you plan to buy this drone). I've written about my Flitt Drone before. It's a great drone for beginners and for taking selfies. It's got a pretty good camera and is able to hover on the spot, even in a slight breeze, relatively stable. I've even been able to walk along and have it follow me from behind (manually controlling it to follow. It doesn't actually have a follow function). In my latest video you can...

Random Face Sketches to Robot Warrior Character Design

Future Soldier design by TET. Continuing on from my last post about the value of drawing without purpose , my latest video unintentionally demonstrates the point again. I set out to try and come up with something to draw for my next skateboarding/art video but didn't have any ideas in mind so I just started drawing faces. By the end of the session I had six very different faces drawn on a page in my sketch book.

Gawler Skatepark, South Australia

TET skating Gawler Skatepark. Gawler Skatepark, South Australia is almost literally at the end of my street yet I don't skate there very often because it's a very busy park, or I just can't get there at times when I know it'll be mostly empty. Skating  Sketchy Girl Popsicle  Skateboard See more  deck shapes As a park it's not too bad for intermediate to advanced skaters. It's not that large so when it's busy you tend to get in each other's way a lot. It could be improved by adding some kind of mini ramp section as the current configuration favours doing lines of tricks from one end of the park to the other. There's really no section that can be used as a mini ramp. When I get there I do enjoy skating the few obstacles that aren't too far out of my skill level, and just rolling from one end to the other and back again is pretty fun too. Anyway, I made a special trip to Gawler skatepark at 6:30am one morning just so I cou...

Why Drawing Without Purpose is an Important Skill for Artists

I watch quite a lot of artist channels on YouTube and one thing that is common to many of them is that each new video sets out with the goal of creating a piece of finished art. Even if the artist is just doing something 'rough' in a sketchbook, by the end of the video that 'rough drawing' will look like a finished artwork ready to be framed and hung on a wall. In my latest two art videos I unintentionally demonstrated why not sitting down to create a piece of finished art every time is also an important part of any artists practice.
